Job description

Overview
Serves as patrol officer in the hospital facilities. Responsible for observing activities in the Helen Keller Hospital Medical District using patrol techniques and responding to security incidents as required. May be called upon to greet or transport patients.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures all equipment is accounted for and serviceable, reporting all defective or missing equipment to supervisor immediately.
  • Performs security function for a designated area and seeks ways to supplement busier officers when time permits.
  • Responds appropriately to security codes, records and reports to Command Center all arrival and departure times when dispatched for services.
  • Formulates written report of incident and response or action taken.
  • Strives to meet the needs of other staff members in effort to meet common goals.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and professional work area, disposing of litter and reporting spills and hazardous conditions immediately to the Monitor Room.
  • Maintains and properly wears the uniform.
  • Expected to be able to physically (subject to Employee Health interpretation) and legally drive at any given time. This is to include any HKH vehicle or other vehicle deemed necessary to support Helen Keller Hospital's needs.
  • Uses MOAB techniques to de-escalate potential violent situations.

Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED preferred. Some college preferred. Must Successfully complete the Huntsville Hospital P.R.I.D.E Academy.
Experience:
Security, military or law enforcement experience accompanied with customer service experience preferred. Must possess a driver's license and be insurable by HH standards. Supervisory and Healthcare experience also preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to enforce policies in an assertive, yet courteous manner. Must possess some computer skills with ability to use word processing and spreadsheet applications.
