Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Navigation, Intelligence & Connectivity (NIC) division in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking an Engineer Supplier Quality (Level 2) or Principal Engineer Supplier Quality (Level 3)to join the Supplier Performance Management (SPM) team, reporting to the SPM Woodland Hills/Salt Lake City NIC Manager. This position is instrumental in driving the supply base to provide consistently high-quality parts to support our customers. This position will be full time on-site working in either the Woodland Hills, CA or the Salt Lake City, Utah location.
What you'll get to do:
  • Represent Northrop Grumman to the supply chain with credibility, confidence, and professionalism, and support the maintenance of the approved supplier list.
  • Engage in Program activities to identify and quantify supplier performance as a proactive risk mitigation.
  • Represent Supplier Performance Management (SPM) at various program reviews and review boards including but not limited to Configuration Control Board (CCB), Material Review Board (MRB), Program Management Reviews (PMR), Design/Peer Reviews, Manufacturing/Test Readiness Reviews and Corrective Action Board (CAB), Process improvement (CI), Supplier Product Readiness Review (SPRR), provide input to critical supplier scorecards.
  • Perform Specification/Drawing Compliance Reviews, (FAIRs) First Article Inspections approvals per AS9102 to ensure suppliers can ship conforming and timely products, and support Receiving Inspection on various categories of hardware but not limited to (PWBs, CCAs, cables and connectors, microelectronics, electro-mechanical systems, and mechanical components & assemblies, etc.).
  • Perform process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable, as well as compliant with Military and Space requirements.
  • Review supplier quality history and drive activities to improve performance through partnership - Return-to-green plans, initiate and manage SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Reports) to address nonconforming material by working cross-functionally identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented. Candidate to have a strong knowledge in the Quality Management System in-order to conduct Root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fish-bone diagram, etc.
  • Assists with program cost estimate development related to supplier quality activities.
  • Liaison to SPM Field supplier quality engineers (FSQE) for program related actions and information.
  • Travel to suppliers, as required, to oversee quality investigations and complete design reviews.

The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, leadership skillset, maintain a very positive relationship with internal teams and external teams, especially with suppliers, customer oriented with great sense of urgency, be able to travel up to 25% of the time domestically, and be available to drive to support local supplier site audits and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for the Engineer Supplier Quality (Level 2):
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or Supply chain environment. or Master's Degree.
  • Experienced with Root cause analysis tools.
  • Experienced with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experienced with Quality Management system.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Basic Qualifications for the Principal Engineer Supplier Quality (Level 3):
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or Supply chain environment. or Master's Degree with 3 years of experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering or Supply chain environment
  • Experienced with Root cause analysis tools.
  • Experienced with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experienced with Quality Management system.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Preferred Qualifications for both levels (2 or 3) :
  • Master's Degree in related Quality or Engineering discipline and experience/certified in lean.
  • SAP experienced.
  • Experienced with Excel/pivot tables and data analysis.
  • Experienced with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) & types of Engineering Drawings as described in ASME Y14.5 & Y14.24.
  • Experienced with J-STD-001, IPC-A-600, 610, 620 or MIL-STD-883.
  • Experienced with Earned Value Management and CAM.
  • Auditor experience to ISO 9001 and AS9100, AS9102 requirements.
  • Experienced with Six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
  • Current active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, or higher.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $125,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $155,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
