Position: Comet Kids Aide
Mon-Fri 3- 8 hours per day; as needed
Salary: $26.00/ hour

Under the direction of the Comet Kids Supervisor, engages in lessons, games, and activities with the Comet Kids students to provide a caring and nurturing environment for all students attending the Comet Kids program.


Job Summary: 

Essential Comet Kids Aide Responsibilities

  • Assist Comet Kids Supervisor with Activities: play, crafts, lessons, snacks, lunches and games.
  • Monitor behavior of students for appropriateness and need for discipline; address safety and emergency needs.
  • Accompany students on outings, field trips, and special activities.
  • Assist students get to special activities, etc.
  • Engage in one-to-one and group activities with children.
  • Relay children's special needs to the Supervisor.
  • Administer medication to students where applicable.
  • Recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem-solving.
  • Give encouragement and praise for students' accomplishments to help build self-esteem.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Administrative Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for updating student records as needed.
  • Help to implement Comet Kids policies, and procedures.
  • Report any equipment and supply concerns to the Comet Kids supervisor.
  • Support to implement emergency policies and procedures
  • Maintain student and staff emergency information as needed.


Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/ GED or at least 2 years of child care experience
  • CPR certification
  • First aid certification
  • AED certification


Working Conditions:
 


  • Requires knowledge of standard office equipment such as personal computer, copier, fax, and associated equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret information, write reports and correspondence, speak in front of a group, and communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Ability to compile and maintain accurate records and files.
  • Ability to interpret and apply KCS policies and procedures and state laws, rules, and regulations, and to apply them with good judgment in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to manage conflict between students, parents, and staff by utilizing problem-solving skills and a positive approach.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management software.
  • Knowledge of FERPA laws and ability to maintain confidentiality with student and staff information.
