How much do combine driver jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 17, 2026, the average hourly pay for combine driver in the United States is $18.75, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $20.19 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Combine Driver position, and why are they important?

A successful Combine Driver needs strong mechanical aptitude, experience operating agricultural machinery, and often a valid driver's license or specific equipment certification. Familiarity with GPS guidance systems, combine harvesters, and basic maintenance tools is typical for the role. Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently during long shifts are valuable soft skills. These abilities are crucial to ensuring efficient, safe, and productive harvesting operations in demanding farm environments.

How to become a combine driver?

To become a combine driver, you typically need a valid driver's license and experience operating large farm equipment. Some employers may require a commercial driver's license (CDL) and knowledge of safety procedures, maintenance, and crop harvesting schedules. Gaining experience through on-the-job training or agricultural courses can improve job prospects.

What is a Combine Driver job?

A Combine Driver operates a combine harvester to efficiently harvest crops like wheat, corn, or soybeans. Their duties include monitoring equipment performance, adjusting settings for optimal yield, and performing basic maintenance on the machine. They often work long hours during harvest season and may need to transport harvested crops to storage or processing facilities. Experience with agricultural machinery and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

What job makes $1,000,000 a year?

While most jobs do not pay $1,000,000 annually, some high-level executive roles such as CEOs, successful entrepreneurs, and certain specialized professionals in finance or technology can reach or exceed this income level. These positions often require extensive experience, advanced skills, and significant responsibility or ownership stakes.

What company in Texas is paying truckers $14000 a week?

Some trucking companies or specialized freight carriers may offer high weekly pay rates for experienced combine drivers or truckers, especially those with specialized skills or working in high-demand regions. However, earning $14,000 a week is uncommon and typically associated with owner-operator roles, long-haul routes, or companies offering premium compensation for high-volume or hazardous loads. Prospective drivers should research reputable companies and verify pay structures before accepting positions.

What are the typical working conditions and schedule like for a Combine Driver during harvest season?

Combine Drivers can expect long hours, especially during peak harvest periods, often working from early morning until late evening to take advantage of optimal weather conditions. The job is usually performed outdoors in varying weather and field conditions, with a focus on efficiently harvesting crops within tight deadlines. While much of the work is independent, Combine Drivers frequently coordinate with farm managers, grain cart operators, and truck drivers to ensure a smooth workflow. Flexibility and the ability to work extended hours are important, as schedules often depend on crop readiness and weather forecasts.

How much do combine operators make?

Combine operators typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the equipment. Seasonal work during harvest periods may also influence overall earnings, and familiarity with machinery and safety protocols is important for higher wages.
