Job description

School Bus Driver

Rate of pay: Sub $28.59 per hour after completion of training.

Function: Drives bus to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule. Comply with traffic regulations.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Drives a school bus safely and professionally;
  • Handles stressful conditions in a professional manner;
  • Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections;
  • Complies with all traffic ordinances;
  • Complies with discipline policies set forth in the Code of Conduct for Transportation;
  • Must have patience, be neat and personable, kind and courteous;
  • Participates in on-site training;
  • Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities: Supervises students while transporting them.

Education and/or experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must be able to pass a physical exam, including drug testing.

Certificates, licenses, registrations, requirements: $27.76 per hour (not benefit eligible). In order to qualify for this position, you must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED), pass a DOT pre-employment physical and drug screen, pass an Oregon Department of Education background check, provide a 3 to 5 year driving record and obtain a CLP (Commercial Learner Permit) prior to start. This is a non-represented position. This position must complete ODE training and pass a CDL test in order to be eligible to become a Sub Bus Driver.
