Primary Purpose:
As an assistant to the Director of Bands, act as the visionary expert for the Color Guard program. Be responsible for all elements of running the Color Guard program both during marching band and the winter indoor season. Duties/responsibilities are based on the needs of each individual ensemble/organization. Responsibilities could include any and/or all of the following: rehearsal skills, performance skills, (both individual and group), show design, technology, ability to communicate well with others.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Clear and valid Texas driver's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to perform job duties and/or attend meetings required

Experience:
3-5 years of instructing Color Guard or related areas of study or duties involved.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Daily classes at the high school throughout the year (with potential to add more classes in the future as needed).
  2. Attend and assist all marching band rehearsals and performances June-October.
  3. Participate in winter guard rehearsals for January-March.
  4. Participate in evening and weekend winter guard competitions and performances February-March.
  5. Provide support for various events on campus and in the community.
  6. Attend and assist with summer Color Guard camp.
  7. Participate in recruiting events throughout the year.

Other
  1. Perform any and all duties as assigned.
  2. Successfully advance district initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, shredder, and fax machine, Color Guard flags, Sound system.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions, prolonged use of computer. May be required to perform job duties including ability to conduct instruction, attend meetings and professional development, and make and receive phone calls in a virtual or remote workplace environment.
Minimum Salary: $23,263 Work Calendar: 187 days
Salary calculated based upon experience (CP1/187 Calendar)
