Job description

Purpose ofposition:The Technical Manager provides leadership and technical expertise in the development, formulation, and manufacturing of plastic colour concentrates used across injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion, and other plastic processing applications.
This role collaborates closely with laboratory, production, sales, customers, and suppliers to develop innovative colour and additive solutions, resolve technical challenges, and support business growth. The position also ensures strong oversight of quality processes, production optimization, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting Structure:This position reports directly to the Industry Manager, Colour and Plastics;Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide technical leadership to laboratory personnel in colour matching, quality control, and the selection of pigments and additives.
  • Support manufacturing operations by improving production efficiency and troubleshooting processing issues.
  • Deliver technical expertise and training to sales teams on colour concentrates and plastic processing applications.
  • Partner with customers to develop customized colour concentrate solutions that meet application needs and drive business growth.
  • Investigate customer complaints and product non-conformances; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assess and qualify alternative raw materials to enhance product performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on technical evaluations and raw material selection.
  • Monitor industry trends in pigments, additives, and polymer applications through supplier partnerships, industry associations, and technical forums.
  • Lead the development of new formulations and specialty products to meet evolving market and customer requirements.
  • Ensure products meet regulatory and customer compliance standards, coordinating approvals as required.
  • Perform additional technical duties as needed to support business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10-15 years of experience in colour concentrates, additives, formulation development, and R&D.
  • Strong expertise in colour theory, colour matching, pigments, additives, and polymer systems.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing operations and resolving processing challenges.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities.
