Job description

Nev's Ink is looking for a Printing Press Operator to join our team.

Press Operator Job Duties Include:

  • Sets up and operates flexographic printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making products, such as plastic, paper, or waxed paper bags, and paper drinking cups
  • Reads job order and mounts specified rubber plate and printing dies on the cylinder, installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of the press.
  • Starts press, adjusting speed, and alignment of the printing plate as necessary.
  • Check proper tension settings, verify repeat lengths, minimize curling, correct adhesive weights, and roll appearance and colors are correct.
  • Cuts sample of printed material from the end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
  • Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using a grease gun.
  • May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
  • Position involves bending, twisting, reaching overhead, kneeling.

Desired Skills and knowledge:

  • Minimum two years’ experience working on flexographic print presses or similar equipment within the industry.
  • Knowledge and skills in all aspects of flexographic label printing.
  • Must be able to accurately identify color defects or shadings in print quality
