During peak performance seasons, practices may become more intensive, sometimes including weekend or evening sessions and travel for competitions. Good time management and commitment are essential to balance these commitments with other responsibilities, and members can expect a supportive team environment, where collaboration and collective improvement are emphasized.
A Color Guard is a team that performs choreographed routines with flags, rifles, and sabers to visually enhance marching band performances or ceremonies. They appear at parades, sporting events, and competitions, adding pageantry and precision to the presentation. In military or ceremonial settings, they present and carry flags in a disciplined manner. Their role requires coordination, synchronization, and often physical endurance.
To thrive as a Color Guard, you need strong skills in dance, choreography, flag and equipment handling, and synchronized movement, often gained through performance experience or participation in marching bands or related activities. Familiarity with standard color guard equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabres, as well as knowledge of routines and possibly certifications from color guard organizations, are beneficial. Teamwork, discipline, and the ability to memorize and adapt to complex routines are standout soft skills for this position. These abilities ensure precise, visually engaging performances and contribute to the overall success of the ensemble.
The Security Guard is responsible for promoting and maintaining a secure campus environment. They provide for the safety and welfare of students, faculty, and staff on the campus by monitoring, maintaining, and enforcing the rules, regulations, and policies of the institution.
Monitors and Maintains Campus Safety
Supports the Evening Manager On Duty for Evening Classes
Provides an escort for students, faculty, and staff upon request
Conducts scheduled foot patrols of the institution’s interior
Conducts scheduled foot patrols of the building’s exterior; including parking lots and less traveled areas of the campus
Enforces institution rules, regulations, policies, and procedures about students, faculty, staff, and visitors while on school property
Prepares written reports, such as daily logs and incident reports, relating to security and safety matters
Monitors and maintains security cameras and equipment
Conducts Preventive Security Measures
Supports campus monitoring of identification cards for students, faculty, and staff
Follows Compliance Policy and Procedure
Complies with all State, Department of Education and accreditation regulations
Adheres to all company policies and procedures
