WGI Sport of the Arts is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Color Guard Event Manager to work in our Dayton, Ohio, headquarters. This full-time position functions in a small, highly collaborative office environment under the supervision of the Director of Events. A successful candidate should embrace WGI's mission to inspire and educate young people around the world through unparalleled competitions and events.

Position Description

The Color Guard Event Manager is responsible for coordinating the planning and execution of WGI Color Guard events throughout the season. Working closely with event partners, Contest Administrators, judges, and office staff, you'll help ensure every event is organized, accurate, and ready for competition.

Responsibilities evolve throughout the year, with work focused on preseason planning and preparation, the competitive season, World Championships, and post-season evaluation.

Event Planning & Execution
  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of WGI Color Guard regional events, from preseason planning through post-event closeout.
  • Manage event timelines, schedules, logistics, and communication across multiple events and platforms.
  • Partner with Event Partners, Contest Administrators, judges, and office staff to ensure events are organized, accurate, and ready for competition.
  • Monitor event readiness, resolve issues, and keep projects moving throughout the season.
World Championships
  • Coordinate schedules, advancement, event materials, and operational details across multiple venues.
  • Help plan and execute the WGI Color Guard World Championships.
Event Analysis
  • Collect and organize event feedback, reports, and post-season data.
  • Maintain event dashboards and analyze data to support future planning.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is highly organized, enjoys balancing multiple priorities, and adapts easily as the pace of work shifts throughout the year. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a wide variety of people. They enjoy collaborating with others and contributing to a team.

  • Experience in event management, project management, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Google environments; experience with Salesforce or similar database systems is a plus.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends if necessary.
  • Experience within the marching arts community, including color guard, percussion, winds, drum corps, or related activities, is strongly preferred.
