Job Description
We are seeking a Deputy Project Manager who is looking for an opportunity to grow and take on more responsibility, in our Raleigh, NC office. Our growing, fast-paced site/civil engineering practice seeks a client focused, highly motivated, organized engineer. The Deputy Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager with managing client relationships, managing project financials, conducting site visits, and consult on business development related needs. Projects will include the design of a wide variety of site/civil projects, with initial focus on land development projects within the Energy Market Segment. The types of Energy Projects anticipated are linear (overhead and underground transmission and distribution) as well as site (substation). Tasks will include permitting, site layout and development, grading and erosion control, drainage and stormwater management design, development of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and public outreach. Knowledge of industry standards and proven ability regarding site development drawing production required. Extensive coordination and meetings with the Client are anticipated to meet project requirements, scope, and need.

Responsibilities
  • Site/civil development including grading design, roadway design, stormwater management design, and erosion and sediment control design
  • Supporting business development, marketing, and presentations.
  • May also conduct code research, write specifications, prepare cost estimates, and obtain permitting.

Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE required.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is required;
  • 5+ years of progressive design experience directly related to site/civil development projects.
  • Proven track record of meeting project and client deadlines.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and review agency staff.
  • Composes technical reports, memorandums and other written communication such as email.
  • Ability to multi-task and work simultaneously on several projects at once.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and project requirements.
