Job description

Job Summary -
We are seeking an experienced Grading Foreman to lead and supervise grading and earthwork operations on a variety of construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating crews, managing equipment and materials, ensuring work is performed safely and accurately, and maintaining quality standards. The Grading Foreman plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Supervise and coordinate daily grading activities, including site preparation, excavation, backfilling, and compaction
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and project specifications
  • Assign tasks and provide clear direction to crew members and equipment operators
  • Set up and maintain grade controls, benchmarks, and reference points
  • Inspect work to ensure proper elevation, slope, and compaction are achieved
  • Coordinate delivery of materials, equipment mobilization, and subcontractor activities
  • Train and mentor crew members on safety practices, equipment operation, and grading techniques
  • Enforce all company safety policies, conduct daily safety meetings, and ensure PPE compliance
  • Monitor production rates, track project progress, and maintain accurate daily reports
  • Communicate effectively with superintendents, project managers, inspectors, and clients
  • Assist with hands-on work when necessary to support the crew and maintain schedules
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements -

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • 3+ years of grading, sitework, or earthmoving experience, including 1+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of grading equipment, GPS grade control systems, and construction methods
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and grade stakes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage crews to meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Proficient in daily reporting and basic computer applications
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
  • Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
