What does it mean to be color blind?

Being color blind means having difficulty distinguishing between certain colors, most commonly red and green or blue and yellow. This condition is usually inherited and is caused by a deficiency or absence of specific color-detecting molecules in the eye called cones. While complete color blindness exists, it's rare; most people with color blindness can still see colors, just not as vividly or accurately as others. Color blindness does not typically affect the sharpness of vision or lead to other eye diseases.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a color blind professional, and why are they important?

I'm sorry, but 'Color Blind' is not a recognized professional job title, so I cannot provide relevant skills or qualifications for this role.

What accommodations are commonly provided in the workplace for employees who are color blind, and how can these support effective job performance?

Many workplaces provide accommodations for employees with color blindness, such as accessible software with customizable color schemes, clear labeling with text or patterns instead of relying solely on color, and training colleagues on inclusive communication practices. These adjustments help ensure that tasks involving color recognition, such as reading charts or operating equipment, can be completed accurately. Open communication with your manager or HR department is key to identifying specific needs and implementing effective solutions, promoting both productivity and a supportive work environment.

We are a fast-growing local company that focuses on spot repairs to a wide-variety of interior and exterior surfaces - floors, countertops, cabinets, tubs, tile, sinks, appliances and more. We save our customers time and money by quickly repairing damaged areas versus replacing or resurfacing. We also keep building materials out of landfills by allowing customers to extend the life of their current surfaces.
Floor Installer:
We are looking for someone who has experience installing floors. Experience can include working with carpet, sheet vinyl, Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), solid wood/engineered wood as well as stone or tile flooring. Our position requires an equal balance of quick-paced work with an attention to detail. We find those with floor installation experience can be great candidates for our Surface Experts field repair technician role. Flooring-related skills and experience translate well to success in this role.

  • Experience working with your hands, whether that's in construction, artistic endeavors, manufacturing or even a hobby
  • Having experience working in facilities maintenance can be very helpful
  • It is helpful, but not necessary to have an Art background. Understanding color and how to match color is a large part of what we do. If you are color blind then this is not the job for you.
  • Experience working directly with customers. You should be highly customer-service oriented, and comfortable working autonomously to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Interest in growing with a new business and possibly growing into a leadership role
  • The training process is extensive so we are only interested in hiring someone who can make at least a 2-year commitment

Job Benefits:

  • Paid holidays and vacation
  • Paid training
  • Medical, dental and vision benefits as well as 401(k) after onboarding period
  • A company car
