Job description

As the Salon Color Director, you will play a vital role in leading, inspiring, and supporting the salon team while fostering a relentless pursuit of excellence. You’ll provide leadership on the salon floor, mentor and coach new artists, uphold salon standards, and contribute to the overall success of the team. You’ll work closely with the Salon Hair Director to ensure a unified leadership presence and a seamless guest and team experience.


Key Responsibilities

Daymaking

  • Be a passionate expert: always continue to learn, serve guests consistently, and maintain integrity
  • Make a genuine connection: always be authentic, respectful, compassionate, and fully present
  • Inspire an encore: always go above and beyond to give each guest an unforgettable experience and maintain enthusiasm and confidence
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes Daymaking in every guest and team interaction
  • Maintain and enhance a beautiful, clean, and safe workspace by upholding salon cleanliness and disinfecting standards


Role Model Presence

  • Set an example for the team in all you do: arrive 30 minutes prior to each shift, keep your station clean and organized, and present yourself in alignment with company standards, including professional dress and hair
  • Consistently demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
  • Maintain professional communication – no gossip, negativity, or damaging comments about team members, leadership, or the company
  • Redirect and stop conversations that do not align with our core values and guiding principles
  • Maintain confidentiality of information shared within leadership meetings or communications unless explicitly instructed to share with the team

Coaching & Mentorship

  • Serve as a floor leader to ensure quality control of both technical services and guest experience
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and education to inspire new artists
  • Provide real-time and scheduled career coaching sessions for studio artists
  • Provide ongoing coaching and encouragement to all color artists to foster individual growth, retention, and long-term career success
  • Monitor and support team effectiveness by reviewing productivity, adjustments, and guest satisfaction
  • Conduct Safety, Sanitation, and Cleanliness Checks
  • Support incentive contests by encouraging engagement and participation
  • Build a collaborative and supportive team culture
  • Partner closely with the Hair Director and salon leadership team to ensure alignment and continuity in coaching and leadership


Meetings & Development

  • Participate in weekly salon leadership meetings
  • Attend semi-annual Salon Meeting
  • Attend monthly Director Call
  • Prepare and send weekly huddles
  • Attend relevant education sessions as required


What We’re Looking For

  • An experienced Color Artist who wants to show up as a leader within the space in addition to their own business behind the chair. There is additional pay guaranteed at 3 hours per week for performing these duties.
