Job Description

Title: Animal Technician

Location: Cambridge , MA

Duration: 6 Months+


Responsibilities

Understand and execute breeding schemes to support study cohort generation or maintenance breeding

Receive mice and arrange for housing

Set up mating pairs, record births and weans

Perform timed mating and plug checks 

Took biopsy samples for genotype purpose

record colony management information timely and accurately into internal databases 

Perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures

Qualifications: 

Minimally one year of colony management 

Basic understanding of genetics and genetic engineering

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 

Reliable, independent, and able to work in a team environment 

Ability to stand for extended periods of time. 

Ability to regularly lift/push, or pull up to 50 pounds 

Regular work schedule is 40 hours per week in addition to weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. 

This position is a contract position and over time is eligible. 




Qualifications

Education: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
