Colonial Oil Industries, Inc. (COI) is one of the largest independent oil companies in the Southeast and has been serving the region since 1921. With strategic ocean terminals in Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, and Jacksonville, FL, along with numerous terminals along the Colonial and Plantation Pipeline, COI has an extensive network to supply gasoline and diesel fuel to the Southeast. Colonial Oil, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Colonial Group, Inc.
Job Summary
The Operator I is responsible for supporting safe and efficient warehouse and plant operations by receiving, storing, handling, and shipping products in accordance with company policies and safety regulations. This role loads and unloads trucks, pulls and stages orders, operates forklifts, maintains inventory rotation, completes shipping and receiving documentation, and performs general housekeeping to ensure a safe and organized work environment. The Operator I works collaboratively with team members to support daily operations while maintaining product quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety regulations, best practices, and Company Policies.
  • Pull orders according to the bill of lading, product code, and lot number.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for shipping and receiving.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Rotate product when new product is received (first in, first out).
  • Segregate drums and totes according to class and compatibility.
  • Operate forklift according to OSHA rules and CCS standards.
  • Perform general housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ year(s) of relevant work experience (e.g., production, loading, unit maintenance) in a chemical plant, manufacturing environment, or military is preferred.
  • Forklift experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be proficient in math, English language reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Tolerance for exposure to all weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Must be able to identify colors and have a sense of smell.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely climb stairs, ladders, and access equipment as required.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive movements associated with loading, unloading, and handling materials.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duration of assigned tasks.
  • Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to safely perform job duties and work around moving equipment.
