Job description

Join Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University School of Medicine as an Ophthalmology Physician in Winston-Salem part of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit integrated health systems in the country.

  • A $100M, 165,000 sq. ft. standalone Eye Institute is opening in 2026 in Winston-Salems Innovation Quarter.
  • The four-story facility will house all eye services, surgical suites, research, and clinical trialssupporting 100,000+ patient visits annually.

Highlights

  • Full-time academic surgical glaucoma position
  • Primarily outpatient clinical and surgical practice
  • Weekday schedule with shared call
  • Full spectrum glaucoma procedures including MIGS and complex surgery
  • Strong support: ophthalmic techs, orthoptists, admin staff, research coordinators
  • Significant involvement in resident, fellow, and medical student education
  • 4 residents per year
  • Approved fellowships in Cornea, Retina-Vitreous, Glaucoma, and Pediatrics
  • Opportunities for clinical research and industry-sponsored trials

TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • DO, MD or MD-DO/PhD
  • Board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology
  • Completion of fellowship training in medical and surgical glaucoma
  • North Carolina unrestricted medical licensure or eligible
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration in North Carolina
