Now Hiring: Auto Body Technician

Location: Wards Autobody & Collision - 3101 N Lincoln Rd, Escanaba, MI 49829

Status: Exempt

Total Compensation: $80,000 - $125,000

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum 13 years of collision repair experience, or completion of a technical school program, OR apprenticeship program

  • Knowledge of vehicle repair processes and manufacturer repair procedures

  • Able to read and work from job orders and estimates with little supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to use a frame machine

  • I-CAR welding certification preferred

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-production environment

  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds occasionally

  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, crouch, and reach in tight or confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Repair vehicles according to the estimate and established quality standards, including removing damaged parts and installing replacements

  • Restore body panels, structural components, and outer body parts to pre-accident condition using specialized tools and equipment

  • Communicate with management regarding additional repairs needed, potential delays, or changes to promised completion times

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and operate all equipment safely

  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards at all times

  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including eye protection

  • Assist team members with repair and vehicle preparation as needed based on schedule and workload

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations governing body shop operations, including hazardous waste disposal

Competitive compensation is to be expected and will be based on factors including but not limited to: skill, potential, experience, job knowledge, adaptability, certifications and qualifications. This position is paid on a commission flat-rate structure guaranteed to meet local minimum wage requirements.
