Job description

Job Objective: Maintain property and grounds accordance with acceptable standards of safety, cleanliness and appearance. Properties include building, grounds and equipment serving the building.
Essential Functions:
  • Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum hallways, stairs, restrooms and office space
  • Empty all trash, break down cardboard
  • Inspect and notify management concerning needs for major repairs, safety or security issues
  • Advise direct supervisor of janitorial and building supply needs
  • Provide routine outside maintenance
  • Remove litter and cultivate flowers as assigned
  • Follow schedule for cleaning windows, furniture, and floors polishing
  • Set up furniture for meetings as required
  • Assist with unloading and put away of any donations received
  • Assist with seasonal activities and assistance

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience: Janitorial and maintenance experience preferred but not required
Certifications/Licenses: None
Skills/Abilities:
  • Use of basic hand tools
  • Detail Oriented
  • Ability to organize and carryout work plan with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work with different socioeconomic groups
  • Bilingual preferred - English and Spanish

Supervisory Responsibility: None
Physical Requirements: Include standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods of time; lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.
Travel: None
Driving: Employee must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment and some outdoor activities.
