NGM's Exploration team is seeking a Project Geologist to support the discovery and advancement of gold and/or copper deposits. The role is ideal for a motivated geology professional with a strong foundation in hard-rock geology and ore-forming processes who thrives in a collaborative, discovery-driven environment. The Project Geologist will contribute to geological mapping, drill logging, data interpretation, and target development while upholding Barrick's strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and technical excellence. This position offers meaningful career growth within a global exploration organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and be responsible for geological mapping at district and local scales, interpreting key information to understand and describe lithological, alteration-mineralization, and structural controls of the exploration project's hydrothermal system
  • Identify controls (or potential controls) on mineralization and associated proxies
  • Ensure and apply best practices in the collection of essential geological and structural data to define areas of interest and optimize exploration programs
  • Perform drill hole and outcrop logging using company-defined digital tools and software to report Quick-Logs and Full-Logs for diamond drill cores and cuttings from drilling campaigns
  • Conduct geological and structural interpretations in cross sections, longitudinal sections, and plan views, both on paper and digitally, ensuring periodic updates
  • Keep geological mapping work, drill hole data, maps, and sections updated across exploration projects
  • Prepare written reports and PowerPoint presentations for technical site visits and end-of-season exploration summaries
  • Comply with and enforce the Health and Safety Management System with the objective of achieving zero incidents in exploration projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering required 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in metallic mineral exploration, primarily gold and copper preferred 
  • Knowledge and ability to recognize metallic ore minerals and alteration minerals required 
  • Technical competence at regional to local scales, in Magmatic-hydrothermal systems or Orogenic gold systems required 
  • Intermediate to advanced spoken and written English required for report preparation and oral presentations  preferred 
  • Experience using geological software applied, such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro, and IOgas. preferred 
  • Ability or willingness to work in other countries and/or exploration projects required
