Job description

Position Summary

The Dispensary Supervisor is a front-line retail leader responsible for directing daily store operations, serving as Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience while maintaining strict compliance with Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) requirements and company standards. This role coaches and develops team members, drives sales and service performance, supports inventory and cash controls, and creates a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development

Lead assigned shifts and provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout the dispensary.

Conduct daily shift huddles covering business priorities, promotions, service expectations, compliance updates, and operational needs.

Coach, develop, and motivate Budtenders through real-time observation, feedback, recognition, and documented follow-up when appropriate.

Support onboarding and training of new employees and reinforce completion of required training.

Address performance or conduct concerns promptly and professionally in partnership with store leadership.

Develop future leaders by delegating responsibility, building decision-making confidence, and reinforcing accountability.

Guest Experience & Sales

Ensure every guest receives friendly, efficient, educational, and compliant service.

Monitor customer flow, wait times, order accuracy, and floor coverage to maintain a strong guest experience.

Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate significant issues when needed.

Coach effective product recommendations and ethical selling behaviors that support store goals.

Promote loyalty enrollment, product education, current promotions, and customer engagement initiatives.

Operational Excellence

Open and close the dispensary in accordance with company SOPs and security requirements.

Supervise cash handling, register accountability, safe procedures, and transaction accuracy.

Complete and verify daily operational checklists, required reports, and shift documentation.

Maintain compliant merchandising, promotional displays, cleanliness, organization, and customer-ready standards.

Support inventory movement, replenishment, vault organization, quarantined product controls, cycle counts, and discrepancy investigations in partnership with Inventory Management.

Ensure adequate floor coverage and communicate operational issues, staffing concerns, or business risks to store leadership.

Compliance & Risk Management

Maintain strict compliance with Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3780, Ohio Administrative Code 1301:18, DCC regulations, Metrc requirements, and company SOPs.

Ensure customer identification, purchase limits, secure product handling, and required transaction procedures are consistently followed.

Document and escalate incidents, inventory discrepancies, cash variances, suspicious activity, security concerns, and potential compliance violations.

Coach employees on compliance expectations and support audit and inspection readiness.

Maintain awareness of loss-prevention and security procedures and respond appropriately to operational risks.

Business Performance & KPIs

Partner with store leadership to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and coach the team toward established goals, including:

Average Order Value (AOV) and Units Per Transaction (UPT).

Loyalty enrollment and customer engagement.

Guest satisfaction and service observations.

Labor efficiency and employee productivity.

Inventory accuracy and timely discrepancy resolution.

Accurate cash handling and completion of operational checklists.

95%+ employee training completion and consistent coaching activity.

Zero preventable compliance violations.

QualificationsRequired

Must be at least 21 years of age.

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum two years of retail leadership experience, including experience leading teams of 20 or more people.

Strong communication, coaching, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills.

Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.

Ability to meet all Ohio DCC employment, background, fingerprinting, licensing, and training requirements.

Preferred

Cannabis dispensary leadership experience.

Dutchie POS and Metrc experience.

Inventory control, scheduling, or cash-management experience.

Experience leading teams of 20 or more people.
