Job description

We are seeking a detailed oriented and dependable saw operator (second shift) to join a premier manufacturing team in Apopka Florida. In this role you will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating saw equipment to cut, trim, miter, and processed steel and aluminum materials according to work orders, drawings, and production requirements


This position requires high accuracy, mechanical aptitude, strong measurement skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.


Work schedule

2nd Shift Monday-Friday 3:00 PM To 11:30 PM (minimum 40 hours/ week, with willingness to work additional hours as needed)


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate saw equipment (band saws, cold saws, chopped saws, ETC.) to process steel and aluminum materials
  • Review job requirements, material types, dimensions, cut lengths. tolerances and production priorities between starting work
  • Select appropriate blades, guides, stops, fixtures, and machine settings (speed, feed rate, blade tension).
  • Measure and verify materials using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, squares, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Load, position, secure, end stage materials for cutting operations using proper handling methods
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment as authorized
  • Inspect completed cuts for accuracy, quality, birds, defects, and conformance to specifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training and manufacturing, machining, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience operating bandsaws, industrial songs, or similar metal cutting equipment preferred.
  • Ability to accurately use a tape measure, calipers, micrometers, squares, and precision tools (must pass a measurement assessment).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to handle basic machine setups, blaze selections, and material positioning.
  • Experience working with steel, aluminum, tubing, bar stock, plate, or structural materials.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic saw operation issues and notify supervision/maintenance when needed
  • Physical ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and fulfill stand physical requirements of the role.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification/experience
  • OSHA 10 certification or basic safety training
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, cut sheets, work orders, or production drawings.
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards, 5S Lean manufacturing, or Continuous improvement practices.
