Job description

Crane Operator (Bridge Division)

Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an experienced Crane Operator based out of Blacksburg, SC (80 ton to 200 ton). The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Operate crane to lift and move materials and other objects.
  • Pour concrete, drive piling, and set girders, along with hook work for moving materials.
  • Plan all lifts and take complete charge of all safety pertaining to assembly and disassembly of crane, operation of crane and proper use of capacity charts.
  • Perform rigging inspection and daily equipment inspection.
  • Respond accordingly to both hand and verbal commands from rigger or helpers.
  • Observe the travel of all loads and take appropriate action to avoid injury to personnel or damage to property.
  • Read boom angle and drum rotation indicators.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years' related work experience (preferred).
  • NCCOO Certification (required).
  • Valid Driver's License (required).
  • Must have construction experience.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Must have an acceptable safety record and be committed to working safely.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or walk; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Must be able to work off the ground and elevated heights.
  • The employee must be able to lift and manipulate objects up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
