About this opportunity:

Ball State University Libraries is searching for a customer service and detail-oriented person to join our team. Joining colleagues in the Support Services unit, this position is responsible for monitoring conditions of Bracken Library, including assessing and documenting facility issues, processing coin operated equipment and bill changers, providing loading dock services for collection materials, furniture, and supplies. This position also plays a pivotal role with internal asset tracking and space imaging through AutoCAD software. What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function: Collect funds from coin and bill operated equipment; provide regular maintenance, and update reports for departmental and public-use equipment; assist library users and colleagues with the operation and troubleshooting of equipment; provide shipping/receiving loading dock activities; process U.S. mail; assess and communicate library facilities issues with Facilities Planning and Management; assist with inventory and perform light moving and readjustment of library's furniture and equipment; support a collaborative work environment and service culture in order to advance the strategic direction of the University Libraries.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding receipt, recording, and processing of coin operated duplicating equipment, bill changers, and debit card monies; assist library users and colleagues with the operation and troubleshooting of equipment; responsible for continuing internal audit of funds.

  • Perform regular maintenance on support services equipment and complete internal maintenance reports; primary contact with external maintenance firms.

  • Prepare and process incoming/outgoing campus and U.S. mail; provide shipping/receiving loading dock services for collection materials, supplies, equipment, and furniture using various delivery and transport services, e.g.,UPS.

  • Triage and resolve public printer hardware issues by monitoring incoming trouble tickets, performing initial diagnostics, and facilitating prompt communication and follow-up with outside service vendors to ensure efficient problem resolution

  • Oversee photocopy/reproduction services for Library; includes quality production of brochures, pamphlets, various documents and forms.

  • Monitor conditions of Bracken Library; receive, assess, and document facility issues; communicate this information to Facilities Planning and Management.

  • Assist with inventory tracking of and perform light moving and readjustment of library's furniture and equipment.

  • Train and monitor student assistants in the performance of area work assignments and job duties.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Up to eighteen months of training beyond high school or equivalent.

  • Over one year of related experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds, lift up to 10 pounds repeatedly, push a book cart up to 150 pounds, and walk for 1 hour or more to perform walk-through facility checks of the entire building.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over one year of library or other public service experience.

  • Experience with using AutoCAD software.

  • Experience with fund management.

  • Experience with photocopy/duplicating equipment and bill changer equipment.
