Job description

Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
Role Summary
Tempus is seeking highly ambitious, New Graduates to join our inaugural GenAI Product Builder program. This program is designed to develop the next generation of builders who can leverage best in class AI and agentic tools to radically simplify the product development lifecycle and deliver end-to-end customer solutions.
Your role
Where solution engineering, design thinking, agent building, and product management intersect. We are looking for self-starters who combine exceptional problem-solving, technical know-how and process engineering abilities to rapidly move from ideation to deployment. This is a high-impact opportunity for those who seek to cut through organizational complexity and instinctively think of solutions to drive superior outcomes leveraging AI. The work you do will be critical to Tempus's mission of improving patient care using AI.
Role Description
Through a rigorous bootcamp followed by real world experience, you will be empowered to drive the entire product lifecycle, learning how to:
  • Drive End-to-End Product Ownership: Engage in intensive customer research to translate vague customer problems into clear, functional and impactful technical solutions.
  • Design & Prototype Experiences (Design Focus): Apply an empathy-first mindset to deeply understand unmet needs. You will rapidly prototype and design user experiences, leveraging AI tools (Codex, Clause AI, Cursor, Studio AI, etc) and internal Tempus agent solutions to minimize concept-to-code lag.
  • Develop and Engineer Solutions (Build Focus): Go beyond prompt engineering to actively build and deploy your solution, leading with model vs. code. This involves rapid iteration, defining metrics for success, model evaluation, and leveraging AI/Agentic tools to accelerate tasks like research, coding, and design.
  • Champion Tempus Standards & Scale: Break down complex problems into simplified, executable solutions. With a bias for action, you will champion products that have robust data handling and adhere to the Tempus operating model, ensuring the solution is ready for real-world application and scale.

Skills & Background:
We are seeking recent or upcoming graduates who have demonstrated an ability to build, solve, and lead. While technical degrees are optional, your demonstrated aptitude for the core skills below-the high-value human traits-is paramount.
Core Requirements: The Non-Negotiable Skills
We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter with a strong product vision and a forward-thinking perspective to join our team as a Builder Application Product Owner. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership skills, sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and the ability to define the strategic direction of the product while aligning diverse stakeholders. You will be responsible for articulating the 'Why' behind our initiatives, driving consensus, and ensuring that every decision supports our long-term goals.
A deep empathy for users and a commitment to design thinking are essential. You should have a demonstrated ability to uncover unmet customer needs, identify root problems, and translate ambiguous feedback into clear, high-value prototypes and user flows. Your process and problem-solving skills will enable you to break down complex challenges into actionable solutions, leveraging AI to streamline workflows and overcome technical and organizational obstacles. Practical fluency with GenAI tools (such as Codex, AI Studio, ClaudeAI, Cursor, etc.) is critical, as you will utilize these platforms to conduct research, design, engineering, and product maintenance tasks. Your resilience and creativity will help architect the simplest, most effective paths from idea to launch, ensuring an optimal user experience at every stage.
Education & Background
  • Degrees of Interest (Optional but helpful): UI/UX/Product Design, Cognitive Science, Data Science, Math/Stats, Business, and all Engineering/Computer Science fields.
  • Successful applicants have demonstrated the capacity to flex across Product, Design, and Engineering disciplines in past projects, regardless of their major.
