Detailed Position Information
The Psychology Department at the University of Alabama announces an opening for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in quantitative methods to begin August 2027, pending Board of Trustees approval. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in psychology. Applicants with backgrounds in clinical or experimental psychology are welcome to apply. Preferred qualifications include a record of achievement in research and teaching, and a successful publication record in advanced quantitative and statistical methods, which can include psychometrics and measurement, latent-variable and structural equation modeling, longitudinal and intensive longitudinal methods, multilevel modeling, causal inference, Bayesian methods, computational modeling, and machine-learning approaches. Responsibilities include maintaining an active program of research, pursuing external funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate quantitative courses, mentoring students, and providing methodological leadership and collaboration across the department
The Psychology Department is composed of 37 faculty and just under 100 graduate students. The Department enjoys strong support from the Barefield College of Arts & Sciences and the University and just moved into a new state of the science facility, which houses a new sleep laboratory, wet lab, and specialized individual and shared research spaces. Faculty and graduate students are distributed in four clinical (Psychology and Law, Geropsychology, Health, and Child) and three experimental (Social, Cognitive and Brain Sciences, and Developmental) emphasis areas. The Department offers bachelor's degrees in psychology and in neuroscience, doctoral degrees in both clinical and experimental psychology, and graduate minors in neuroscience and in statistics.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in psychology. Applicants with backgrounds in clinical or experimental psychology are welcome to apply
