Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Principal/Sr. Principal DevSecOps Engineer - Level 3 or 4 with a passion for developing, automating, and securing creative solutions in an enterprise, on-premises environment. You will be responsible for system analysis, as well as designing, developing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining various systems to meet functional objectives of the business. In this role, you will ensure the implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage. You will implement provisioning and deployment techniques via packaging and containerization, manage enterprise container orchestration, and implement automated testing and security scanning for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. You will bring a strong understanding of developer ecosystems using CMake and Conan, as these tools directly influence our automation development strategies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Pipeline & Process Automation: Contribute to the planning and evolution of processes and infrastructure to execute programs supporting capability maturation, deployment, and on-premises infrastructure modernization.
  • Developer Ecosystem Integration: Integrate development pipelines using automation, ensuring a solid understanding of how CMake and Conan impact build automation, dependency management, configuration management, and the overall integrity of deployed builds.
  • CI/CD Integration: Develop test-driven development tools to replace manual legacy processes wherever possible.
  • Container Orchestration Management: Help define, implement, and maintain enterprise container orchestration standards using platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Rancher.
  • Security Integration (DevSecOps): Integrate automated code quality and security scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify, Anchore) directly into CI/CD pipelines to ensure compliant and secure delivery.
  • Environment Provisioning: Lead the building and configuration of delivery environments supporting CI/CD tools. Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scripts and/or templates to automate provisioning and management tasks.
  • System Efficiency: Develop custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
  • System Design: Design information and operational support systems tailored for highly secure, air-gapped, or on-premises deployments.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal DevSecOps Engineer - Level 3 or a Principal Systems Engineer - Level 3 or a Sr. Principal DevSecOps Engineer - Level 4.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal DevSecOps Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of related work experience, or a PhD and 1 year of related work experience.
  • Sr. Principal DevSecOps Engineer (Level 4): Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience; a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; or a PhD with 4 years of related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship: All applicants must have current U.S. Citizenship.
  • Security Clearance: Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive technical experience with a variety of DevSecOps tools including Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible, and Git/Version Control Software.
  • Build Ecosystem Knowledge: Solid understanding of how CMake and Conan are utilized in development and how they impact pipeline and build automation development.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express technical information clearly across different organizational levels.
  • Agile Frameworks: Solid experience working within Agile processes and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pipeline Infrastructure: Hands-on experience proactively creating automation using Jenkins Shared Libraries to enable quicker builds for app and development teams.
  • Advanced Orchestration: Experience identifying automation needs and deploying CI/CD solutions utilizing Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Rancher container orchestration platforms.
  • On-Premises Infrastructure & Security: Experience creating and implementing automated infrastructure solutions to address strict air-gapped or on-premises infrastructure and security requirements.
  • Security Tooling: Experience implementing and managing code coverage and vulnerability scanning tools like SonarQube, Fortify, or Anchore.
  • Leadership Experience: Successful experience leading a team of DevOps Engineers and/or System Administrators.
Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
