What is a coffee distributor?

A Coffee Distributor is responsible for sourcing, transporting, and supplying coffee products to retailers, cafes, or other businesses. To thrive as a Coffee Distributor, you need strong knowledge of supply chain logistics, inventory management, and experience in beverage distribution, often supported by a background in sales or foodservice. Familiarity with CRM systems, inventory tracking software, and, in some cases, certifications in food handling or transportation are valuable assets. Outstanding interpersonal skills, effective negotiation, and attention to detail help distributors build client relationships and coordinate complex deliveries. A typical day as a Coffee Distributor often involves managing orders, coordinating with suppliers and customers, overseeing inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of coffee products to clients such as cafes, restaurants, or retailers. You'll spend time on the road delivering products, meeting with potential or existing customers to discuss their needs, and resolving any supply chain or delivery issues that arise. Collaboration with warehouse teams and logistics staff is frequent to maintain accurate stock levels and smooth operations. While much of the work is independent, success often depends on building strong relationships and adapting quickly to changing demands in the market.

How do you become a coffee distributor?
