Job description

JOB TITLE: EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical Services - CODY
REPORTS TO: Emergency Medical Services Director

JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) provides direct and indirect care through the Policies, Protocols, and Guidelines set by Cody Regional Health (CRH), Cody Regional Health Emergency Medical Services (CRH-EMS), and the State of Wyoming Office of EMS (OEMS); and is accountable for and provides care within the set standards of practice. The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic is a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team and must work with Fire Department Personnel, Law Enforcement, and other healthcare providers to deliver care to ill and injured patients in the out-of-hospital as well as hospital setting.

The Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate (EMT-I) provides direct and indirect care through the Policies, Protocols, and Guidelines set by Cody Regional Health (CRH), Cody Regional Health Emergency Medical Services (CRH-EMS), and the State of Wyoming Office of EMS (OEMS); and is accountable for and provides care within the set standards of practice. The Emergency Medical Technician – Basic is a member of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team and must with Fire Department Personnel, Law Enforcement, and other healthcare providers to deliver care to ill and injured patients in the out-of-hospital as well as hospital setting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum age 21 years old.

EMT BASIC or NREMT-BASIC: Currently licensed as a Wyoming EMT-Basic (with National Registry preferred).

EMT-INTERMEDIATE: currently licensed as Wyoming Full Module EMT Intermediate.

EXPERIENCE
EMT BASIC: None required, entry level position.

EMT INTERMEDIATE: One year as an EMT-Basic.

  • Must have ability to quickly and calmly react to life threatening situations.
  • Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people of different cultural backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Must possess a high degree of confidentiality in all matters with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.
  • Ability to assess and treat patients to the US DOT and State of Wyoming OEMS EMT- Basic Level or OEMS EMT-Intermediate Level.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
EMT BASIC: BLS (AHA), Valid Wyoming Driver’s License.

EMT INTERMEDIATE: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA); PALS (AHA). Clean valid Wyoming Driver’s License.
