Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse in Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team.
This team ensures that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care.
The role is supported through a professional practice model and evidence-based practice and research.
All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Professional Nurse Practice Act.
They must implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
In this role, nurses are expected to:
Perform the Nursing Process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in clinical care.
Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics.
Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for communication and updates.
Practice according to current clinical practice standards.
Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration.
Participates and supports performance improvement initiatives.
Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments.
Serves as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses.
Participates in research and performance improvement in nursing.
Upholds all healthcare system policies and procedures.
Consults appropriate experts and uses resources to address practice questions.
Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum.
Participates in protocol development in collaboration with care managers.
Supports the effective use of human and material resources.
Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies, standards, and codes of conduct.
Education:
Associates in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's in Nursing preferred.
