Job description

BallenIsles Country Club seeks a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent for a full-time salaried career opportunity! Qualified candidates will have experience in a similar golf course supervisory position and private country club environment. Demonstrated success with supervising golf course maintenance practices and leading employees is required.

This is a new position to assist with the grow-in and opening of our new Par 3 golf course starting construction in early summer 2026. Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties
  • Assist in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
  • Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants
  • Ensure that maintenance equipment is properly operating and report issues appropriately to Equipment Managers
  • Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations
  • Maintain records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports
  • Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
  • Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations
  • Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address all real or perceived environmental concerns directly
  • Manage department members that may include, but are not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician
  • Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programs
  • Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Incorporate safe work practices in job performance
 
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science with two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A valid FL driver's license and satisfactory driving record to meet standards of insurability are required. A Florida pesticide applicator's license, ability to work outdoors in various climates, and ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds is necessary.
 
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly stands, walks and sits; regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears
  • Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells
  • Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds
 
Compensation:
$70,000–$80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
