In the United States, the average annual salary for a Coding Auditor typically ranges from $55,000 to $75,000, but highly experienced professionals or those working in large healthcare systems can earn upwards of $80,000 or more. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a coding auditor?

To thrive as a Coding Auditor, you need in-depth knowledge of medical coding systems (such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS), attention to detail, and often a certification like CCS or CPC. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), coding audit software, and compliance guidelines is typically required.
