THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides clerical and administrative support for environmental programs in the Waterways and Wetlands, Clean Water, and Safe Drinking Water units. The role helps ensure accurate permit processing, organized records, and reliable communication. As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will perform the following duties:
  • Permit Processing: Review permit applications, enter data into required systems, and prepare related correspondence
  • Record Management: Organize program files, maintain databases, and purge outdated information when needed
  • Communication Support: Handle phone inquiries, direct calls, provide environmental information, and forward complaints to staff
  • Document Handling: Process incoming and outgoing mail, type various documents, and ensure formatting meets program standards
  • Program Assistance: Prepare notices, transmit applications to partner agencies, and assist additional programs when necessary
  • Quality Control: Review permit folders and data entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
