Job description

The Plumbing Apprentice will work alongside experienced plumbers to learn the trade and gain practical experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and opportunities for career advancement in the plumbing industry.
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Work under the supervision of licensed plumbers to assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems.
  • Learn and apply plumbing techniques, like pipe cutting, soldering, brazing, threading, and fittings assembly.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the layout of plumbing systems.
  • Assist in performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning drains, inspecting pipes for leaks or corrosion, and testing plumbing fixtures for proper functionality.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site, including wearing appropriate PPE and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, and continuing education courses to enhance plumbing knowledge and skills and stay updated on industry trends and regulations.
  • Familiarize yourself with local plumbing codes, regulations, and permit requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable standards in all plumbing work.
  • Gain proficiency in the safe operation of hand and power tools commonly used in plumbing work, including wrenches, pipe cutters, drills, saws, and augers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Competent, responsible, organized and team oriented.
  • Strong communication skills and math skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and locations as needed in multiple states.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the plumbing industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions.
