Job description

Valiant is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. In this role you will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as HVAC, painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors.
  • Using plaster or compounds to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing concreate floors, steps and sidewalks.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles. Hanging doors and installing door locks.
  • Replacing broken windowpanes and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinating with the Project Manager and trade supervisors on job site.
  • Directly communicate with management, teammates and customers in the form of meetings, face-to-face or written communication.
  • Troubleshooting equipment, performing project take-off's and solicits quotations in support of procurement process.
  • Executes scheduled and unscheduled tasks in timely manner with a strong focus on quality / customer service.
  • He/she will have the ability to communicate complex communication/equipment repair.
  • Will work closely with trade supervisors ensuring all records and documentation are kept up to date.
  • Responding to mechanical system emergencies, determining the issue, making repair, and testing for correct operation.
  • Performing regular maintenance of mechanical and other systems for proper function.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service/satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass a basic federal background check.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School degree, HS/GED equivalent, applicable Trade Certifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be versed in current codes and standard trade practices.
  • Should present solid fundamental understanding of maintenance, troubleshooting and repair principles.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas at a minimum: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, other building systems.
  • Working knowledge of various trade hand tools, power tools, and all other applicable trade tools.
  • Working knowledge of building layouts, etc.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess and maintains in good standing, a valid Maryland-State Issued Trade's License.
  • Experience in Laboratories or Medical Facilities.
  • 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • 2+ years of technical training or apprenticeship program is desirable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to facilitate all physical requirements specific to this scope of work successfully.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to regularly travel to / from job location by automobile (personal vehicle).
  • Must be able to pass a basic level physical.
