Familiarity with case management software, citation systems, and sometimes certifications like ICC (International Code Council) are typically required. These skills ensure that community standards are upheld, legal compliance is maintained, and public safety is protected.

What does a code enforcement officer do?

For this career, your responsibilities are to investigate the integrity of a property or building and decide if there are any health, environmental, or safety issues to address. If you flag a problem during an inspection, it is also your duty to administer citations or permits that hold the owner responsible and enforces them to make any necessary changes.
