you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing distributed systems that leverage Foundation DB's multi-model architecture to meet the evolving needs of our infrastructure.
As a Foundation DB Engineer, you will work alongside a team of engineers to architect cutting-edge solutions that deliver exceptional performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement scalable distributed systems using Foundation DB to support high-traffic applications and workloads.
  • Ensure high availability and fault tolerance across multiple data centers, reducing latency and improving resilience.
  • Optimize database performance by troubleshooting bottlenecks and improving query efficiency, data distribution, and replication strategies.
  • Ensure data consistency and integrity across large-scale distributed systems, addressing challenges related to CAP theorem, eventual consistency, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate FoundationDB with microservices, APIs, and other core systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing technical guidance, and ensuring adherence to best practices for database design and software development.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests, monitoring tools, and logging systems to track the health and performance of databases.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in distributed databases and suggest improvements to current architectures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and concepts such as sharding, replication, and consensus algorithms (e.g., Paxos, Raft).
  • Hands-on experience with FoundationDB distributed databases like CockroachDB, or Amazon Aurora.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Java, Python, or C++.
  • Experience with database optimization techniques such as indexing, partitioning, and query optimization to achieve high performance at scale.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and the deployment of distributed systems in cloud environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills to analyze and resolve database and system-level issues.
  • Experience working with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying distributed database systems.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and experience with DevOps practices to automate database provisioning, monitoring, and scaling.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for problem-solving and finding innovative solutions to complex challenges.
