Job description

Short-Term Disability and Eligibility/Cobra Auditing Specialist

Unified Group Services has a reputation for excellent customer service in the marketplace, and this position is crucial to continuing that status.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Short-Term Disability and Eligibility/COBRA Auditing Specialist to join our team. This hybrid role combines responsibilities from two critical areas: managing short-term disability claims and conducting eligibility and COBRA audits. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks.
As a Short-Term Disability Specialist, you will set up and process short-term disability request forms submitted by customers. You will follow up with physicians to obtain updates and necessary documentation for ongoing short-term disability files, confirm patient return-to-work dates with customer contacts, and respond to inquiries from customers and plan participants. Collaboration with internal team members on questions and assisting with occasional short-term disability appeals is essential. Additionally, you will perform other tasks as assigned to support the team.
In the Eligibility and COBRA Auditing role, you will conduct audits to ensure the accuracy of eligibility data, including member additions, terminations, and account changes. You will audit COBRA payments and communication letters, track and report the accuracy of audits performed, and alert the Team Leader to any discrepancies or concerns identified during audits. You will also assist with covering other auditors' workloads when needed and take on additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED, with some college being helpful but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential, along with strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills. You must be able to interpret spreadsheets, insurance claim forms, and plan document language accurately. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines are critical for success. Professional, polite, and courteous phone communication skills are required, along with strong organizational skills and a commitment to excellent customer service. Effective writing skills, including proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure, are necessary. A self-motivated, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, the ability to multitask and manage interruptions, and excellent attendance and reliability are all essential traits for this role.
Work Environment:
This is an in-office position; remote work is not available.
Hours Required: 40 per week - Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pay Basis: Hourly
Benefits:
