Job description
CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe COBOL Developer – Healthcare Claims position for our client.
Location: Sacramento, CA
Duration: 12 months
Duties:
Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications and mainframe program logic.
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications supporting healthcare claims processing.
Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
Support CA-MMIS mainframe applications and related healthcare claims processing functions.
Perform unit, integration, and regression testing to ensure application quality and reliability.
Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
Participate in application maintenance, enhancements, and production support activities.
Create and maintain technical documentation related to application functionality and program changes.
Skills:
Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
Knowledge of mainframe application development and maintenance.
Understanding of healthcare claims processing is preferred.
Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience developing and executing unit, integration, and regression testing.
Ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Experience:
5+ years of experience working with mainframe applications.
Experience developing and maintaining COBOL-based applications.
Experience with JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
Healthcare claims processing experience is preferred.
Experience supporting complex enterprise applications and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $55.00 to $62.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors
including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
