Cob Role Player information

What is a COB role player?

COB role players, or Civilians on the Battlefield (COB), are individuals who participate in military training exercises by simulating civilians, insurgents, or other non-military individuals. Their role is to create realistic scenarios for military personnel to practice decision-making, communication, and operational skills in environments that mirror real-world situations. COB role players help trainees experience the complexities of interacting with local populations, handling cultural differences, and responding to unpredictable events during missions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a COB role player?

To thrive as a COB Role Player, you need a strong understanding of business continuity planning, risk management principles, and familiarity with organizational processes, often supported by experience in crisis management or business operations. Proficiency with continuity planning tools, incident management software, and certifications like CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) are commonly required. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork are essential soft skills for simulating realistic scenarios and effectively supporting training exercises. These skills ensure accurate role play, effective training, and organizational preparedness for real-world disruptions.

How does a COB role player typically collaborate with training facilitators and other team members during simulation exercises?

As a Cob Role Player, you will work closely with training facilitators, exercise controllers, and other role players to create realistic scenarios for trainees. Collaboration involves reviewing the exercise script, understanding your character's objectives, and adapting your performance based on real-time feedback from facilitators. You may also participate in post-exercise debriefs to provide insights on trainee actions and help improve future simulations. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as your performance directly impacts the quality and realism of the training experience.
