Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship. The University will not sponsor applicants for work visas (e.g., H-1B).

The primary duty station for this position is located at NASA's StennisSpace Center in Hancock County, Mississippi. Employment is contingent uponsuccessful completion of all University of Southern Mississippi pre-employmentrequirements. The selected candidate must also be eligible to obtain andmaintain the credentials required for access to Stennis Space Center.
This position reports administratively to the Mississippi-Alabama SeaGrant Consortium (MASGC) Director and receives day-to-day technical supervisionfrom the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS). The positionincludes dual supervisory oversight from MASGC and GCOOS.
Preference will be given to applications received within the first five(5) days of the posting. Applications will continue to be accepted until theposition is filled or the posting closes.
This position follows the University of Southern Mississippi StaffHoliday Schedule. 
 
Job Summary 
The PhysicalOceanography Model Inventory Coordinator will identify physical oceanographymodels throughout the Gulf of America region, determine the capabilities ofeach of the models, and develop a robust inventory of the models that exist.They will work closely with the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing Systemprogram and Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium to identify sources ofmodels and develop the inventory. They will also develop products to make theinventory easily accessible and understandable to modelers, forecasters,researchers and others.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  1. Lead the development of an inventory of physical oceanography models to support Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) partner, the Gulf of America Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS)
  2. Support on the GCOOS administrative team and participate in remote and in-person (if possible) meetings and events in the Gulf region and participate in joint GCOOS/MASGC project meetings
  3. Develop a comprehensive technical report of the physical oceanography model inventory and work with the GCOOS team to develop a web interface that shares the same information
  4. Help distribute the final technical report andmeet all reporting requirements
  5. Other duties as assigned
