Job description

Assistant Program Director – Adult Treatment (Brunswick County)

Location: Shallotte, NC | Coastal Horizons Center, Inc.
Schedule: Full-Time

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. · Brunswick County, NC · Full Time

Coastal Horizons Center is looking for an Assistant Program Director to help lead our Brunswick County Adult Treatment team. This is a clinical-leadership role for someone who wants to shape how care gets delivered — building strong processes, developing staff, and making sure clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders get coordinated, high-quality treatment from the moment they walk in the door.

You'll coordinate our Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP), guiding the intake and walk-in process, supervising clinicians, and strengthen community partnerships that keep our clients connected to care. If you lead with both clinical skill and operational sense — and you want your work to have a visible impact on a community — you can make a real difference.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the Program Director on day-to-day operations and help implement clear, streamlined processes across all programs
  • Coordinate and direct the SAIOP program — enrollment, counselor-client matching, admissions, documentation, and coverage
  • Triage and manage open-access/walk-in services and coordinate staff schedules for the walk-in process
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision, guiding workflow, documentation quality, and staff productivity
  • Train and develop staff, including on intake and assessment
  • Provide onsite coverage for the Program Director as needed
  • Deliver direct clinical services — evaluations and in-depth counseling, from crisis intervention through ongoing treatment for clients with complex substance use and co-occurring disorders
  • Coordinate integrated care — linkage to primary care, community resources, case management, and reassessment of client needs
  • Represent the program in interagency meetings and grow community partnerships across Brunswick County

What we're looking for

  • Master's degree in a human services field from an accredited university
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in behavioral health assessment and treatment
  • Full licensure as a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Dual licensure as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment paired with the organization and leadership to keep a busy program running well

Why Coastal Horizons
