Birdon America, Inc. is seeking an Pipe Department Foreman to join our growing team at our Bayou La Batre, Alabama shipyard. This is a great opportunity for you to provide your knowledge and skills to a growing company in building a new Coast Guard vessel.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and direct daily activities of pipefitters, welders, and pipe department personnel.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate piping installations with project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
  • Ensure all piping systems are installed according to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections to verify workmanship and quality control standards.
  • Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate pipe department personnel.
  • Order and track materials, tools, and equipment required for project completion.
  • Maintain job site safety and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and develop effective solutions in the field.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates to management.
  • Complete and submit daily reports, timekeeping records, and project documentation.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of pipefitting experience, with supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial piping systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
