Job description

Program Coordinator/Life Skills Coach (Part-time)

Spectrum Independence Living is a non-profit organization that is designed to assist young adults with neurodivergent conditions to develop the skills necessary to live independently. SpIndL offers coaching in life skills, employment and social behavior; as well as social opportunities. SpIndL Agreements may be for various services which include coaching, assistance in obtaining employment, providing independent living options and assisting with management of the participant’s personal finances and other responsibilities. SpIndL is looking for team members that align with and will adhere to their values of Growth, Empathy, Collaboration, Creativity, Acceptance, and Safety.
The SpIndL Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administration of SpIndL programs, with most focus on the Life Skills Coaching program. This role includes that of planning and delivering classes to our neurodivergent participants in independent living, communication, and job readiness skills. The Program Coordinator will work closely with clients, their sponsors, staff members, and external partners to achieve program goals and maintain high standards of service delivery. This part-time role is expected to require 15-35 hours per week of scheduled office hours that may involve some evening hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and deliver life skills curriculum to neurodivergent participants.
  • Coordinate the daily operations of the SpIndL Life Skills program.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, schedules, and activities (occasionally in community settings).
  • Monitor and report participant performance, conducting periodic reviews with families.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring alignment with objectives.
  • Assist with Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the SpIndL team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing necessary documentation.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., education, healthcare, social work, psychology, human services, or adult learning), or equivalent relevant experience in working with teenagers and/or adults with special needs.
  • Must have a passion for service.
  • Experience: Previous experience or training in working with adults with autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience in developing and working from lesson plans is highly desirable.
  • Requires transportation between office, classroom, and community settings.
  • Skills:
    • Strong ability to work with young adults with neurodivergent conditions and their sponsors.
    • Strong time-management skills with ability to focus on priorities.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and other relevant software.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to demonstrate and use conflict resolution skills.

Work Environment

The role of a SpIndL Program Coordinator typically involves working in an office environment, with occasional opportunities to travel for program-related events. Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate various program activities. The physical demands of the job may include handwriting, standing, walking, reaching and occasional need to lift and transfer at least 25 pounds.
