CCPD Graduate Career Assistant(Fall 2026-Spring 2027)

Job Description:

Graduate Career Assistants are integral members of the CCPD team who help students and alumni build confidence, develop career readiness skills, and pursue meaningful career goals. Following training, Graduate Career Assistants assume increasing responsibility for coaching, presentations, outreach, and strategic projects that advance the Center's mission.

General Office

  • Classification: Master's or doctoral student currently enrolled at Mercer University
  • Location: In person, Atlanta campus
  • Hours: 15 to 18 hours per week
  • Compensation: Hourly position
  • Appointment Length: Renewable each semester based on performance and departmental needs
  • Preferred Eligibility: Federal Work Study eligible students are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Schedule: Primarily daytime hours with occasional evening commitments; work schedules are arranged around academic classes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel)
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated initiative, dependability, interpersonal skills, and sound judgment

    Preferred Qualifications

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Career Consulting:
      • Conduct 1:1 and group career coaching appointments with students and alumni
      • Assist students with resumes, interviewing, job search strategies, and career planning
      • Guide students in effectively using Handshake and other digital career resources
    • Events & Programs:
      • Create and facilitate workshops and classroom presentations in-person and virtually
      • Develop and implement outreach strategies that engage graduate, professional, and adult learners
      • Collaborate with staff to support career fairs, events, employer programs, and campus initiatives
    • Marketing & Communications:
      • Create videos, graphics, and social media content to engage students
      • Provide excellent customer service to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers
      • Represent the Center professionally across campus
    • Office Operations & Administrative Support
      • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact by answering phones, greeting visitors, and assisting guests
      • Maintain organized office, event, and shared spaces
      • Assist with event set-up, breakdown, and post-event restoration
      • Assist staff in data mining and alumni calls for Graduate Career Outcomes information
