Production Team Leader
Summary:

The Production Team Leader is responsible for leading and directing Team Members in Production, Quality, and Safety while ensuring customer satisfaction, compliance with company standards, and alignment with SMC’s operational goals. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to foster a safe, efficient, and positive work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quick and effective responses to customer needs and requests.
  • Conduct daily evaluations of quality standards against customer specifications and expectations.
  • Monitor processes to ensure all quality requirements are met.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
  • Ensure Team Members follow standardized work during training and certification.
  • Complete daily administrative and reporting functions as required.
  • Manage supply usage and control costs within the assigned process (e.g., gloves, tape, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with Group Leaders, opposite-shift Team Leaders, and SMC Team Members.
  • Provide leadership and conflict resolution guidance to Team Members.
  • Lead daily production team meetings.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and execute leadership directives.
  • Utilize basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) to complete tasks.
  • Train, assign, and direct Team Members in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervises employees in the production department.

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong leadership and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to resolve conflicts and promote teamwork.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.

• Ability to represent SMC professionally and respectfully.

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in standard units of measurement (money, weight, volume, distance).

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but simple instructions.

• Ability to address problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand and walk; frequently required to talk or hear.

• Occasionally required to handle objects, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision.

Work Environment:

• Work performed in a production/manufacturing environment.

• May be occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and extreme heat.

• Noise level is typically loud.
