Job description

The Opportunity:

Red River Co-op is recruiting for the position of Cashier at Lakeview Gas Bar located at 470 Lakeview Drive, in Kenora, Ontario. This position reports to the Gas Bar Manager.ย 

Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Deliver world-class customer service that is fast, friendly and efficient.
  • Educate customers and staff on the benefits of membership in Red River Co-op and encourage them to join.

  • Ensure the C-store is properly stocked with merchandise and faced at all times.

  • Operate a cash register, take payment from customers and provide change.ย 

  • Follow all legal requirements regarding the sale of lottery and tobacco products.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure department image and safety standards are followed. Ensure sanitation and cleanliness standards are to Co-op specifications, including cleaning of all equipment and display cases.ย 

  • Observe safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately to the Gas Bar Manager.

  • Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise or fuel from the site.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. We're looking for someone who builds great relationships with co-workers and customers.ย 
  • Strong customer focus and interest in serving others.
  • Good mental math skills.
  • Experience working in a retail environment. Specifically, experience handling cash would be an asset.
  • Open availability and willing to work different shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
