Job description

Edinburg, United States | Posted on 05/06/2026

This isn't just a Controller role — it's the financial backbone of an entire dealership operation. You will partner directly with the dealer and general manager to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable intelligence, spotting trends before they become problems and identifying opportunities before the competition does.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Prepare complete monthly financial statements per manufacturer guidelines. Interpret the daily operating control (DOC) and surface developing trends to leadership on a regular basis. Ensure all manufacturer accounts — including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection, and co-op advertising — remain current and accurate.

Lead the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts. Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports that drive intelligent decision‑making across the dealership.

Cash & Asset Management

Maintain an effective cash management system, forecast fund requirements, and recommend profitable use of excess capital. Direct the assessment of depreciation rates applied to capital assets.

General Ledger Integrity

Review the general ledger, scheduled accounts, and reconciliations with outside sources including bank accounts, factory payables, floor plan payables, and reserve accounts. Investigate and resolve any unusual entries to ensure accuracy.

Compliance & Tax Oversight

Stay current on tax code changes and applicable government regulations. Ensure full compliance across payroll taxes, income taxes, retirement plan records, and all required filings and forms.

Insurance & Risk Management

Evaluate insurance renewals with the dealer, purchase property and liability coverage, process claims, administer the loss review program, and maintain reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.

Keep all manufacturer-related accounts accurate and up to date. Coordinate the annual audit or review and physical inventory. Ensure all office personnel follow proper accounting procedures to minimize audit costs.

Leadership & Operations

Oversee all office staff across functional areas. Train team members, maintain standards, and ensure accurate record‑keeping. Manage the dealership's computer/DMS system to maximize utilization. Continually improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • 8–10 years of related experience in automotive dealership accounting or financial management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong working knowledge of dealership management systems (DMS)
  • Proven ability to interpret and present complex financial data to owners, managers, and external stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of cash flow modeling, variance analysis, and financial forecasting
  • Current knowledge of applicable tax laws and government finance regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an office team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups at all levels
WHY THIS ROLE
  • Direct access to dealer and GM leadership with a real seat at the table
  • Full P'L ownership across the entire dealership operation
  • Your financial insights directly shape business strategy
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • A culture that values precision, initiative, and long-term thinking
