Position Summary:
The Estimating Engineer Co-Op supports the estimating team in developing process cost estimates for fabricated, stamped, and machined products within an industrial and aerospace manufacturing contract environment. This role assists in gathering process information, identifying manufacturing steps, determining cycle times, developing routing and methods, and preparing product cost estimates. The position provides hands-on exposure to engineering, manufacturing systems, and operational processes, offering valuable real-world experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the estimating team in preparing cost estimates for fabricated, stamped, and machined components and assemblies.
  • Support the development of manufacturing routings, process methods, and cost models for new and existing products.
  • Gather and analyze process steps, labor content, machine cycle times, setup times, and material requirements.
  • Work with engineering, production, and operations teams to obtain accurate manufacturing data and understand shop floor processes.
  • Help evaluate drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to support estimating activities.
  • Assist in identifying manufacturing risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of estimating databases, standards, and cost assumptions.
  • Participate in reviews of manufacturing methods for industrial and aerospace products.
  • Observe and document real-world production processes to improve estimate accuracy and routing development.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to estimating, manufacturing methods, and process documentation.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Must be US citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) due to ITAR and EAR regulations
  • Fluent in English Language (verbal and written)
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, machining, stamping, fabrication, and cost estimating.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, part prints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across functions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to CAD, GD&T, Drawings/Prints, ERP/MRP systems, or similar manufacturing software.
  • Familiarity with industrial and/or aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of different Manufacturing processes, cycle times, and routing structures.
  • Prior internship, co-op, shop, or manufacturing experience is a plus.
