Company Overview

Gastronomous is a fast-paced, dynamic start-up focused on revolutionizing how food is prepared and enjoyed worldwide! Having developed Canada's first fully autonomous kitchen, Gastronomous realizes the Kitchen of the Future through advanced industrial automation techniques and cutting-edge technologies.

We are ano-nonsense team of passionate people with a bias for action. We know that our ability toexecute on our ideasis what sets us apart. We do what we say we are going to do, externally and internally. We trust our people to act independently and make practical, real-world decisions.

If you are passionate about developing meaningful technology that creates meaningful solutions, then Gastronomous is the place for you! By joining our team, you will be immersed in a dynamic and thought-provoking environment that tests your capabilities and pushes you to new heights.

Gastronomous is looking for a Co-op Mechatronics Engineer who will directly work alongside our core engineering team. Your input will be crucial in re-designing and improving current product models.

What You'll do:

Over the term you will work on multiple projects, with your primary roles being to brainstorm, prototype, iterate, design, and build integral parts for our main products. These activities include:

  • Build test platforms for prototyping new machines and mechanisms.
  • Select appropriate sensors (and other electrical devices/components) and manipulate the control system to perform tests.
  • Brainstorm, plan, and prototype new concepts and ideas.
  • Design said concepts and ideas.
  • Source parts, manufacturers, and request quotes.
  • Make important decisions about what components/brands should be used for different applications.
  • Stay organized, document work, and communicate with other team members.
  • Execute several programs/projects simultaneously from project kickoffs all the way to launch plans.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

To successfully complete these duties, one must be able to generate smart designs, be openminded, and work efficiently under pressure. The ideal candidate has experience with structural design, industrial components, design for manufacturing, and design for assembly.
